It’s been a long time coming, and I plan to blog about the process of getting up and running once I’ve plucked up the courage and taken a deep breath. Once more, Christmas got in the way of the Shed, but also provided a dividing line between getting the Shed ready, and actually working in it. (As long as you can still call 15th Jan post-Christmas!) Three issues I didn’t plan for enough were heat, comfortable seating, and my computer. I had the basic version of all three of those but the weren’t good enough for day-long working sessions. Right now, it’s sloshing it down, so I am writing to the sound of wild rain on the Shed roof. I hadn’t realised how my I would feel out with the elements.
I feel pretty cut off in here. It’s odd to look back at life in the house (especially in the early evening when the lights are on) and to view the house from this angle. The wifi doesn’t reach this far (intentionally), although I have made the concession of bringing my phone with me. I am going to try to write without the instant google-able research that I’ve got used to. It also means I’m much less distracted by social media and general house stuff like the washing / washing up / cats / postman / coffee.
In my last post I talked about the end of days. This feels like the start of days (as it were). I finally feel distraction-free and able to work and focus. It’s been a very, very long time coming.
