My go-to websites for calls for submissions

Resources for writers

Sites I’ve found useful

I thought I’d list my go-to websites for calls for submissions etc. Pasted below. These are sites I find useful myself – please share any other ‘competition / round up’ sites you’ve found.

Aerogramme Writers Studio

Almond Press list of writing opportunities

National Poetry Library – magazines

National Poetry Library – competitions

The Word Factory Monthly Round Up – http://www.thewordfactory.tv/site/4-19-news-opportunities-round-up/

The Writing Competitions website

Note: The Word Factory Round up is fab – so subscribe to their newsletter! You can change the date in the url to get the latest round up – i.e. 4-19 in this case. Sometimes the date format is different – there might be a 0 before the month for example. Or you can google ‘word factory news opportunities round up’. I created a calendar  of opportunities this way by changing the date, printing the results and putting them in a folder. Some of them are out of date, but it’s proving useful.

Here are some other websites that might come in handy if you’re in the UK:

Arvon

Bafta

BBC Writers’ Room

A list of short story magazines from Christopher Fielden’s blog

Moniack Mhor (Scotland’s Writing Centre)

Mslexia

NAWE’s Writers’ Compass

Neon Books

New Writing East Midlands

New Writing West Midlands

New Writing North
