Day five: too hot

I ended the first week hot and exhausted. Too hot to sleep last night, too tired to get up early to write this morning. I hoped to have some time off before my ‘new life’ as a freelancer kicked in, or at least some sleep, but this hasn’t been a week for time off – hopefully I can take my own advice and do that soon. I did do one thing today to support my writing habit: I went to the sea. It was baking hot again today but there was a breeze down near the water’s edge – which was lovely. Plenty of seagulls and holiday makers. And good for thinking time. This afternoon instead of buying pizza and fruit for dessert I made it all from scratch – part of my ambition to do home made food and save money. I managed to sneak some spinach into the dough too! The apple crumble was probably a step to far, though I miss my Grannie’s stewed fruit that she kept in the larder. It was homegrown too. So for all those reasons I spent after school time cooking. However, this meant cooking and clearing up (we have a tiny kitchen) from about 3:30 until about 6:30. Totally and utterly worn out afterwards. Feel like I’ve run a marathon. No progress on my novel. Hoping for better things next week or at least some sleep
