Days Thirty-Three to Thirty-Seven: a balance finding mission

I had a lot of other things to organise and write and read this week related to teaching and I’m focusing on freelance writing in this blog. Let’s say this week was about finding a balance. That’s why I started on this quest: it was, to all intents and purposes, a balance finding mission, one that might be going on for the rest of my life.

Writing-business-related activities this week included learning about Linkedin, using an online course from the Talented Ladies Club. That course was on a platform called Thinkific so I taught myself how to use that by creating a basic ‘how to use WordPress’ course for writers. (It isn’t live yet.)

Towards the end of the week, I worked on my eBook called How to Think Like a Writer, which is based on ten years of teaching a course called Thinking Like a Writer. I am pleased with it because I have included some of the essays I’ve had published on pedagogy down the years, plus the ‘creative toolkit’ which is the result of me reflecting on my own creative process and asking ‘what is it I actually do when I’m being creative?’ After that I named the component parts to make some ‘tools’ that can be carried from project to project. These allow me to teach the creative process, and it’s these tools I describe in the book.
