My name is Louise Tondeur. I live in the UK. I am a writer – mainly of fiction – and I’ve also been teaching for over twenty-five years. As well as publishing through, well, publishers (!) I also self-publish print and ebooks and I have created some online courses. I’ve also written a book on time management called the Small Steps Guide to Goal-Setting and Time Management, and I use the small steps method I created in this book to inspire other resources – so you might have heard of me that way. I also write books and provide resources for Drama teachers. I have two websites and an associated mailing list:
I collect the email addresses of people who have signed up to my email list via the opt-in links on my websites. Often this is when I’ve offered a freebie, known as a ‘lead magnet’, such as a free ebook or free checklist or free story. This information is stored on SendFox.
The email addresses of people who have emailed me directly are automatically saved by my email provider, as is usually the case, but I don’t add them to my mailing list without further consent.
I collect street addresses of customers in order to mail products to them.
I collect my readers’ email addresses – if they want to sign up – because from time to time I like to send out promotional emails, to let people know about my books and online courses, or I share interesting information about writing, the small steps method, or writing events I’m taking part in.
It’s up to you whether you want to share your email with me, and you can unsubscribe at any time, by writing to me, or by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of any of my emails.
I will delete customer street addresses as soon as their order has been processed.
I simply use your email address to send you the information listed above. You’ll be added to my mailing list when you opt-in on one of my websites. I use SendFox to do this. I don’t share your information with anyone, and I don’t send out unrelated material, like random adverts or spam.
Like many site operators, this site may begin to collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit this site (This is called “Log Data”). Like many site operators, this site may use third party services such as Google Analytics collect, monitor and analyze this type of information in order to increase our its functionality. Third party service providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information.
Cookies are files with small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a web site and stored on your computer’s hard drive. www.louisetondeur.co.uk is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon. Clicking on a link to Amazon from this site doesn’t increase the cost of items purchased. I only link to books on Amazon that I think readers will be interested in and would want to learn more about.
Because I run a freelance writing business, I’m a sole trader, so I’m responsible for the data I collect and for making sure I treat it securely. There’s no one else in my organisation that I need to make aware. If in future I employ an assistant, I will make sure they are aware of GDPR, but I have no plans to do that at present.
I have read the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) guidelines for compliance with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules. You can have a look at them here. The ICO is my lead data protection supervisory authority.
These are the steps I took by 25th May 2018:
If you have opted-in to my mailing list, you will receive promotional emails, information about my books and online courses, or interesting information about writing, the small steps method, or writing events I’m taking part in. I assume that you’re interested in these things because you downloaded the free ebook, or checklist, or story, or other interesting thing (lead magnet) I offer to subscribers. You can unsubscribe if you’d rather not receive this information.
Because consent is not indefinite, I remind subscribers that they can unsubscribe in each email I sent out.
In order to prevent against data breaches, I have password protected my computer and SendFox accounts. If there were data breaches at SendFox I would follow their guidelines as soon as I became aware. If I the information on my mailing lists were compromised, I would inform those people on my lists as soon as possible.
I have compiled this privacy statement and GDPR compliance notice in good faith, but if you’d like to ask any questions please email me via the ‘contact’ page.
